Inglorious Bastards, a little less PG than what we are used to. This is the name of Quentin Tarantinos history bending film containing some very very high quality actors and actresses including; Brad Pitts, Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger, Daniel Bruhl and so many more. There are many fantastic scenes throughout this film but by far is the café scene between Christpoh Waltz and Melanie Laurent where the “Jew Hunter” is only a meter away from the very person he is supposed to hunt. Sitting there calm both people sit and eat before Col. Hans Landa leaves.

The main thing is you need a massive surface to roll the pastry, something we really don’t have. It was brilliant to watch Emily attempt to make this with the little space we have, I was on cutting duty, probably for the best.

However, first all you need to do is peal, core and chop 4 baking apples. Soak it with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and raisins. While this is soaking up all the juices we need to roll pastry.

Normally we would make our own pastry but we didnt have time. Out pops the puff pastry! It needs to be rolled to be SUPER DUPER thin! This is hard when your work surface is the size of a a3 poster. But, we did it. We tried the best we could giving it roll trying not to let it split.

Coating it with melted butter and spreading walnuts and almonds ( you should use hazelnuts) give it a nice even spread. Then next your apples and put it ALL on the short side of your pastry.

Oops i forgot the tablecloth! This needs to go UNDER the pastry. Yup i actually did make this mistake and yes it was difficult lifting it up onto our teatowel cause 1.we dont own a table and 2. Well why would we need a tablecloth if we dont have a table right?

Using the tablecloth you use it to turn your pastry over and keep it TIGHT! Keeping it tight is important to give it a layered affect. You keep on rolling it until you've run out of pastry.

After give it a egg wash and stick it in the oven at 170c for 1 hour. We need to take it out every 20 mins and coat it in butter to keep it moist. (I am sorry if you hate that word).

After, it should be golden brown, flaky and looking sexy!

This was really really good, although Emily said it wasn’t the best, I thought it was really good. YOU NEED CREAM SERIOUSLY, GO GET THE CREAM. Im sure Emily will add to this saying it was vile.

Yup, Joe is right. I wasnt a fan. I was very critical with myself. When i do this again i wont use almonds, ill make it tighter as i rolled it and i will use my own pastry. Dont get me wrong it was tasty but I could have done much better! I only give it a 6.

Joe loved it! And devoured it for brekkie the next morning!

8/10

Enjoy
