By the time you read this I hope you will have seen the curry we had last night for tea. If not then what are you doing? Go back and read that! It was a late one from me so Emily took over and cooked most of the curry and the rice as mentioned, it was incredible. Once work had finished I could hear the festivities from down stairs and thought I would investigate! Honestly, anything to get away from my computer screens, plus it's funny watching Emily down in the kitchen dancing away.
The smell of the curry made me wonder what could go with the dish? With the dish well on its way what ever I chose had to be quick, I thought about the bog standard Garlic bread, but there was no joy in the freezer. There was no time to run to the shops and to be honest I couldn’t be bothered having ran 3 miles 4 hours prior. I did manage to find some pitta bread that were meant for dinner tomorrow and I know that our stocks of Garlic had been replenished so me and my slight tired mind began cooking.
DON’T BURN THE BUTTER!!! Literally the most important thing in the world to remember. I slowly simmered the butter. Once it had melted I added the garlic powder and tossed in 2 cloves diced into the pool of silky butter. After a minute I placed 2 pittas in the butter mix and cranked up the heat. I let it cook for 90 seconds before flipping and doing the same on the other side. The pitta was already golden brown and the smell of the garlic made me hungry. Once done, i cut it into strips and added some parmesan for that extra zing!
For something off the top of my head it wasn’t bad! Allowing the garlic to soak into the bread made it really nice and it perfectly matched with the curry. Even though it tasted great it was a little dry and it is no match to garlic bread or Naan Bread. However, for something on the fly and as a alternative I would do it again.
6/10 Good for the short time I had but not better than store bought or home made breads.
